Bing’s Bing Shirtigans

Bing’s Bing Shirtigans

March 03, 2020

In this post I'm showing you all the Bing Shirtigan's I've sewn for my son Bing. I personally love seeing my son Bing in something slightly more “dressed up”, like a button-down shirt.  So I set out to design something super comfortable with some classic button-down elements. Say, cardigan meets shirt. Light bulb moment, the Bing Shirtigan was “born”!

I'm a bit obsessed with flared pants. I was toying with the idea to hack our free Olli shorts & pants into a flared version for quite some time. And now with all the beautiful summery cotton-linen-gauze fabrics around, I just had to give it a go! Well, I for one LOVE how it turned out! Wouldn't it make for a perfect hack for the FREEkin' Sewing Challenge?! So here's how to create a Flared Olli Pants for yourself!

Doris skirt - full seat adjustment

Doris skirt - full seat adjustment

May 16, 2019 1 Comment

Who knew women have curves? Okay, you can laugh, because that’s like super obvious! Most of us women fall in different pattern sizes for our waist and hips, which means you have to blend between sizes to ensure a great fit.

In most cases when testing the Doris adult skirt, even the testers with more challenging curves, got away with a perfect fitting skirt by following the detailed step-by-step blending instructions. But others ended up with some annoying, but very common fitting issues. In this blogpost we're going to discuss some of these very common fitting issues and it's solution: the full seat adjustment.

Doris skirt tester round up

Doris skirt tester round up

May 06, 2019

Transformative. That is the word that best describes the Doris skirt for adults pattern test. With the help of 43 amazing testers, among which 8 pregnant ladies - we’ve perfected,  adjusted, transformed the Doris skirt pattern to become a versatile, year- round wardrobe staple and must have pattern! Obviously that’s always the goal of a pattern test. But unexpectedly this test also was transformative for (my own personal) body positivity.

Dia Sweater Full Bust Adjustment - Part 1

Dia Sweater Full Bust Adjustment - Part 1

February 07, 2019

Do you often end up with a sewn garment that is too large in the neck and shoulder area, even though you selected the correct size by following the pattern’s size chart, based on your bust measurements? If that’s the case, you might be in need of one of the most common pattern adjustments used to create a better fitting garment - the Full Bust Adjustment (FBA).  Even though behind the scenes we're working very hard to add FBA front bodices (C & D cup) to our Dia sweater pattern, we've also created this extensive step by step tutorial to help you perform your own FBA.

Thank you Dia Sweater testers!!

Thank you Dia Sweater testers!!

It sounded like a great idea - releasing our first ever women's pattern, the Dia ladies sweater and updated Dia kids sweater pattern at the same time, before the Black Friday craziness. 😅 This very challenging deadline meant 2,5 months of hardcore pattern testing, with multiple pattern versions and a gazillion sample sweaters & tunics sewn up, while battling all sorts of "life happening" situations. Luckily they were up for the challenge and it's because of those amazing testers that the release of both patterns turned into such a success!

Meet our newest summer appropriate addition to the Misusu family: the Piper Tank Top! At first glance, the Piper seems like just a good basic tank top pattern. But there’s more to Piper than meets the eye…..Next to the basic tank top version, Piper’s biggest feature is the 2 more "designed" back versions - the penguin tail back & the crossover petal back. And together with all the other options - V-neck - Crew neck - back yoke - racerback- and more, you can create at least 20 different Piper Tank Top's by mixing and matching!
