Pattern Testing

We are always on the look out for talented pattern testers to test our upcoming patterns, so we can get your feedback on our instructions and the garment itself. You can truly help us make our products the best they can be! Next to that, we also want to give you the opportunity to showcase your makes! With every pattern release, we’ll be sharing finished makes by our pattern testers on social media.
So here’s how it works.

SIGN UP
Start by signing up for our Pattern Testers Newsletter HERE and be the first to know about any upcoming testing opportunities. Also, join our Misusu Patterns Sew & Tell Facebook group. We’d love for you to participate in our small (but growing!) community! Especially, when you are one of the experts on our new patterns!

PRE-TESTING
Once a pattern has been drafted, it is pre-tested. Next to some tests by friends and family, I always sew up a few version myself to determine if the fit and proportion matches what I had in mind.

CALL FOR TESTERS
We send out an email to our Pattern Tester Newsletter subscribers, calling for testers. Based on the pattern description & images, the timeline and deadline and other requirements, you can decide if you like to sign up for testing via the sign up form. The testing period usually is 1-2 weeks and is sometimes extended if there are issues we need to address.
Everyone who applied to test the pattern, receives an email letting them know if they are selected or not.

TESTING
All testing will take place in a closed Facebook group. You’ll receive the pdf pattern and instructions to leave your feedback on the overall tutorial and pattern as any fit issues. Although we expect you to complete at least one full garment, many decide to sew up a final version during the testing week. (We only use photos of the final version for promotion - on our blog, product listings, Facebook, Instagram) 

During the testing, we have two deadlines. The first deadline is for basic fit pictures and feedback. The basic fit pictures don’t have to be pretty, they just have to showcase the garment being worn and point out any issues you may have. The second is for the final styled photos. Keep the styling clean, try to take the photos in natural daylight and don’t use filters.

RELEASE
Thanks to your help, we’ve updated the pattern and tutorial and the pattern is ready to be released! We ask our testers, if they love the pattern to share it on their blog, provide their own “review” and share it on social media, Facebook, Instagram and other sewing groups. All new patterns are on sale for at least 1 week.
