Meet the Doris skirt - this spring wardrobe staple is a very quick sew and gives great opportunity to dive into your scraps and color block away!
The Doris has a slim fit, with a diagonal side seam and an overlapping V-shaped waistband. The waistband was designed to be tight enough to keep the skirt up without the use of elastic. You can add an optional back yoke and pocket bands. The bottom of the skirt can be finished with an folded hem or with a bottom band. Add some decorative piping or a strip of contrasting fabric to the side seam or back yoke for some extra pizzazz!
Techniques involved include sewing with knits, straight and curved seams, attaching ribbing, sewing corners and optionally working with decorative (piping) tape.
Please note: blending between sizes is recommended when your child's waist and hip width fall within different sizes. The tutorial provides an extensive instructions on how to blend sizes.
