Doris Kids Skirt PDF Sewing Pattern

Meet the Doris skirt - this spring wardrobe staple is a very quick sew and gives great opportunity to dive into your scraps and color block away!

The Doris has a slim fit, with a diagonal side seam and an overlapping V-shaped waistband. The waistband was designed to be tight enough to keep the skirt up without the use of elastic. You can add an optional back yoke and pocket bands. The bottom of the skirt can be finished with an folded hem or with a bottom band. Add some decorative piping or a strip of contrasting fabric to the side seam or back yoke for some extra pizzazz!

Techniques involved include sewing with knits, straight and curved seams, attaching ribbing, sewing corners and optionally working with decorative (piping) tape.

SUGGESTED MATERIALS
Main fabric: Medium weight knits, summer sweat, interlock or french terry with at least 40% stretch (lycra or elastane).
Waistband, pocket and bottom band: rib knit or jersey lycra fabric  with at least 40% stretch (lycra or elastane).

* fabric marker (optional)

MACHINES
Sewing machine / Serger. When using a sewing machine, use a knit stitch or small zigzag stitch in place of the serged seam. Finish the seams with a big zigzag stitch.
